These systems are designed for high noise training areas. They allow two-way communication between a training instructor and students in very high ambient noise environments (up to 110 decibels). Each student transmitter features a push-to-talk (PTT) button. Once the PTT button is depressed, a student's question will be heard by the instructor and all other students. The instructor's transmitter has a "constant-on" feature. However, an audio mute switch is provided so that the instructor can go "off air" to allow private conversations that will not be heard by the students.
The headset is a key element in providing intelligible, 2-way communication in high noise environments. Each system utilizes the latest in noise attenuating avionics style headsets. These headsets are used by both the instructor and the students. They provide up to 23 dB of noise isolation at specific frequencies. The headsets utilize an integral, noise-canceling microphone mounted on a miniature "boom" arm that positions the microphone in front of the talker's mouth.
These headsets are available with either 'over-the-head' or 'behind-the-head' adjustable headbands. The 'behind-the-head' headband allows the system to be used while wearing hardhats.
